How To Create Landing Pages That Convert [With Examples]

How to create landing pages…

If you want your marketing to explode drastically, you need to have fabulous landing pages.

They’re so freaking important for you to be able to sell your products, as well as other people’s services/products online via running profitable and highly scalable ad campaigns.

Whether you run a Facebook Ad, Google Ad, LinkedIn Ad, or anything else…without landing pages, it’s not going to work that well.

So, I decided to write the guide, especially for you to explain everything you need to know about landing pages, and more importantly – how to create landing pages that REALLY CONVERT with examples.

Stay tuned…we’re starting right now.

Let’s jump right in!

What’s A Landing Page?

A landing page is a page where the user lands just after he/she clicks an advertisement (for example, a Facebook ad).

It is created just for the purpose of a marketing or an advertising campaign.

The simplest objective to design a landing page is a CTA [Call To Action].

They’re created to benefit a business by converting a higher percentage of visitors/users into quality leads with the help of a conversion form (also known as a lead-capture form) who tend to be the potential future customers.

You can see the example right below;

How to create landing pages - an example of a landing page.

Bonus: If you’re not aware of what a lead-capture form is, it’s a form where prospects can fill their information like email address, full name, website URL, and so on. It’s necessary to drive a prospect through your targeted sales funnel for the better.

You must have noticed that every time you click an ad, you’re diverted to a page similar to what I’ve shown above and then redirected to the actual sales page, right?

Well, you know what landing pages are vital for marketing and businesses but…that’s just a dizzy statement.

How exactly do they help, and why exactly are they pivotal for an online presence?

Let’s discuss it deeply…

How Do Landing Pages Help You?

Landing pages can help you with your marketing.

Let’s talk about the matter.

As far as I know, there are four amazing reasons why you’ve gotta have landing pages.

1. Get A Targeted Audience For Your Advertising Campaign

Landing pages can be really helpful for your advertising campaigns for sure.

You know that people who put in their email address, name, or phone numbers are potential buyers.

Why’s that?

The simple answer is because they were already interested in the product/service you sell. Why would someone randomly click on an ad and then take the trouble to land on your page, read the information, and then fill out his/her valuable credentials in the form?

Just think about this…

The next thing which proves that those people hold an interest in your products (niche) is their action.

Let me give you an instance of this: So, I’m a guy who’s engrossed in affiliate marketing pretty much. If I see an advertisement on Facebook or Google, click through the ad, take my time to understand the page info, and then fill out my personal information in the form…not only I’m interested in affiliate marketing, but in your offer/product/service as well.

Thus, whenever someone makes an action as I said above…it’s a proven action.

What is meant by this is – all the leads you get through your landing page can be your custom audience, which might convert amazingly well when targeted via paid media.

That’s how landing pages can help you.

2. People To Follow Up With

It’s super easy for you to collect leads with landing pages effectively [You already know this].

But once you have that contact info with you, it’s way easier to convince the prospects to become new customers.

Again, how?

This answer is…you get to follow up with the prospects.

If you have the contact resources, you can set-up a follow-up sequence (both online and offline) with the prospects via emails, messages, or phone calls to give them chances for converting.

Marketing is easier with landing pages.

3. Appearance On The Web

Of course, landing pages can be shared on social media sites, content platforms, linked to advertisements, and found in organic search results.

This gives you an extra opportunity to drive more traffic via various marketing channels and close more sales.

Just open a search engine on your mobile or laptop and type in a keyword to see how many landing pages appear in the results.

You can be there too…and enjoy a lot of leads.

4. Better Marketing Insights

Creating and running various landing pages will boost your understanding of present marketing.

When you have a handful of them, there’s a lot of data, demographics, and metrics to be analyzed.

When you have those running, you’ll come to know what’s working and what’s not.

Here are some estimations of what you’ll learn:

How landing pages can be helpful for your overall business revenue.

What type of elements you should be using on your landing pages to have a high percentage of conversions.

How are visitors converting with your strategies...

No matter how good a landing page is…there’s always room for improvement.

You’ll get to know everything with an active landing page to strike the iron at the right time.

What’s The Difference Between Landing Page And Home Page?

The difference between a landing page and a home page.

The most considerable difference between a landing page and a home page is links.

Or in more professional words – CTAs.

A landing page doesn’t have more than one call to action (link), whereas a homepage has more than one call to cations (links to navigate).

You can see the graphic right below for reference.

Home page has more CTAs than a landing page. That's the basic difference.

That’s the only common difference so far.

Did you know that there’re different types of landing pages?

If the answer is yes, that’s great! If it’s a no, I’m going to explain it soon. No worries!

Let’s get right into it and have a look.

What Are The Different Types Of Landing Pages?

So basically, there are seven types of landing pages. Let me describe each one of them.

1. The Click-Through Landing Page

This is the simplest form of a landing page. The page contains specific details about a particular product/service.

You definitely would have come across these types of pages all the time.

The objective is simple: the company/business wants you to complete their require action [for example, completing a transaction, signing up for training, getting a free-trail, etc.].

Down below is an example of a click-through landing page.

Example of a Click-Through Landing Page.

2. Lead Capture Landing Page

Lead capture pages are created to collect leads (contact information). They have a lead capture form, some bullet points, and absolutely no way for a user to exit or navigate to something else other than signing-up and being redirected to the thank you page or a product page.

They are also referred to as squeeze pages.

The pages are simple in looks and very promising.

See the example below…

Example of a lead-capture landing page.

3. Viral Landing Pages

This type of landing page is more so focused on brand awareness than just sales or leads. The page has amazing and engaging content that can go viral.

Viral pages generally contain funny videos or something that can hook people’s attention, and an advertisement of the company with a logo, photo, or anything else.

They also have social sharing icons that allow people to share.

4. Microsite Landing Pages

A microsite landing page is an individual web page or maybe a cluster of pages which are mostly used for large campaigns.

An example of this could be a website building business with various products, and for each product, there’s a different landing page created.

It may even have a different domain or subdomain and have relatively high-quality, expensive design.

You can see an example below…

Example of a microsite landing page.

5. Infomercial Landing Page

As you can guess with the name itself…an infomercial landing page is a long page with a ton of information about a particular product or service.

These pages have images, a LOT of text, a great copy, social proofs, sharing button (may or may not), and eventually a CTA.

You come across these pages all day every day.

See the example below to recall;

An infomercial landing page.

6. Product Detail Landing Page

The product detail landing page is a ‘know everything about us’ page that attracts the majority of the people.

It describes the product, tells the features, specifications, results you can get by using it, and a lot of other valuable information that triggers you to take action.

This is the most common type of landing page used by businesses, marketers, and companies.

Just have a look at the screenshot below…

This is how to create landing pages. Product detail landing page example.

7. Home Page As A Landing Page

If you’ve seen pages of huge winning companies like Shopify and Ahrefs, they use their home page as a landing page.

But you know what?

This page performs worst when it comes to conversions. And the reason is already understood…you can never have one call to action on your home page.

There has to be a navigational menu, or people will hate coming to your website.

As a result, people don’t take the required action and navigate to another page for more information.

Look at the instance below.

How to create landing pages -Homepage as a landing page.

So far, we’ve covered the seven types successfully.

Now to the direction you’ve been wanting to go to – how to create landing pages that convert.

Let’s jump right in…

How To Create Landing Pages For Maximum Conversions?

How to create landing pages that convert. This is how to create landing pages.

Now we’re going to talk about how to create landing pages. But before we do that, it’s super important to understand which elements are important for a landing page to maximize conversions.

The Heading

An amazing landing page will always have a great, short, and catchy headline.

Also, the headline should be similar to the one you use in your advertisements. The reason is people don’t like to proceed further if you have no congruency. They easily get distracted and are short-tempered. You have to understand it fairly.

The heading should clearly illustrate what your visitors will get if they take the required action.

A Level Copy

An engrossing and good sales copy trumps everything. Your text should be extremely straight to the point.

There have to be some bullet points with large font and easily readable points.

Never use large chunks of paragraphs on a landing page. Who the heck likes to read them after all?

Keep it short, sweet, and compelling.

Targeted Keywords

As landing pages can be indexed by search engines, you have to make sure that you use your targeted keywords in the heading, slug, body text, and alternative text of the images (if you use).

This can help you with some warm traffic that can potentially convert much more efficiently.

So, keep it in mind that you optimize the page for both conversion rates and search engines.

Fancy Social Sharing Buttons

From what I’ve tested, social buttons work really well as people can share the page on social media if they feel good about it.

I just added the word fancy because I personally share people’s content if they have unique social sharing buttons.

You never know. There could be many other people who may like to share stuff that has nice social sharing links (I know that’s funny).

One CTA [Only]

You may already know this, but I’m reminding you. Never use more than one Call To Action on your landing page.

It could be really painful if you just stuff a bunch of links for people to navigate through.

Just have zero other navigation.

An Image/Video [Optional]

I recommend using either an image or a video to your page so that it can boost conversions.

People like to see visual content and visual content is more connecting than huge blocks of text.

Try to add a short video if possible, and see the results going up.

Like for real…implement it and see the improvement.

Lead Capture Form

I don’t think I need to explain this over and over again.

In simple words, you have to have a conversion form on your page, but it should not have too much information to fill.

People are getting lazy…and also it’s their private information.

Name, email address, and phone number are always sufficient in most cases.

Now that you know what elements are significant for creating a high converting landing page…let’s go ahead and create fantastic landing pages!
