Can You Really Making Money Writing Reviews On Amazon?

So, the answer to this question is actually a bit problematic. Although you can for sure, make money writing reviews on Amazon but it doesn’t comply with the rules of the company.

Listen, we are living in a world that’s extremely competitive. Whether you are a company offering various kinds of products or services to people or an individual with something to sell, there’s competition and it’s really tough!

This makes it hard for companies to stay on the top of the shop feeds on websites or platforms like Amazon and they are ready to cross the line to attain higher rankings in the product listing so that more customers come to them instead of the competitors.

Whether you accept it or not, that’s how the web and the world of the internet have been functioning over the past decades. So, here’s your answer:

Yes, you can make money by being an Amazon product reviewer but you have to do it in such a way that it complies with the policies of Amazon. As a reviewer, you will have to be honest, provide value, and help people make the right decisions.

But before you get excited and start searching for places that allow people to write reviews and earn money, I want you to read this post further because what I said over here means completely different from how you might have perceived it.

By the answer, I don’t mean that you can make money writing fake reviews. Sure, there are these ways to make a quick buck and I will share those with you in a bit, but there is a drastically different strategy you can use to make a lot more than a ‘quick buck’ by doing simple Amazon reviews.

And do you know what’s the best part? It’s going to be a hundred percent legitimate as well as ethical!

First, let me share some of the things you should be knowing before you go for the hunt to make money posting Amazon reviews:

Things To Know Before You Begin

So, before you begin, I want you to know some important information regarding getting paid writing Amazon reviews and the whole process and they are as follows:

  • Your account might be taken down if you keep posting paid reviews
  • Some companies might not even pay you
  • Compensated reviews won’t make you a full-time living
  • Amazon does provide you ‘free stuff’ for genuine reviews
  • There are two ways to make money writing Amazon reviews

1. Regarding Paid Reviews & Your Account

Since Amazon doesn’t like promotional reviews, they are constantly trying to figure out the behavior of reviewers and in case they find a pattern that’s similar to paid reviewer accounts in the ecosystem, your account might get deleted and you will have to deal with new account creation every now and then.

2. Some Companies Might Not Even Pay You

There are a lot of sellers that are going to promise you money but after you have purchased the product and left a review, you might never hear back from them because all they wanted was to sell their product.

3. Compensated Reviews Isn’t An Ideal Way To Make Money

First of all, I would never advise you to go out there and take money from people to post reviews or encourage any kind of similar activity.

And second of all, you won’t really make enough money because the process is very complicated as well as time-consuming. Sure, there are some people doing it but for the majority, it’s not going to be a sustainable way at all.

4. Amazon Rewards Genuine Reviewers

Yes, that’s right! Amazon actually runs a reviewer program called Amazon Vine where the company invites genuine reviewers and provides them with free stuff that the reviewers can either keep with themselves or sell the products to make money.

5. There Are Two Ways To Get Paid For Amazon Reviews

You read that absolutely correctly, my friend! There are two ways you can generate money as an Amazon product reviewer.

One is a hundred and ten percent ethical and the other one isn’t that ideal. But people are using both the methods and making money.

So, the two methods are as follows:

  1. Writing products reviews ON Amazon’s site
  2. Writing product reviews FOR Amazon Products

Before you get confused and run away, read the next paragraph and subheading to know what I’m talking about:

Method 1: Be A Product Reviewer On Amazon’s Site

In this method, you actually write positive reviews for Amazon sellers and once the sellers approve or confirm your review, you get paid compensations or free products that you can resell for money or keep with you to save money indirectly.

So, what’s the real deal? Do companies really pay you or offer free products if you do this? Is there a catch? Why do they do this?

Well, first of all, yes…companies do pay money or offer free products. Now answer the second question – they do this because if a product has a lot of positive reviews and people are really happy with the same, Amazon is going to rank the product high in the shop feeds and as a result, companies will get more customers over time.

Okay… that makes sense, but how can you move ahead with the process? What should you do before you begin. How do you get in contact with the sellers to be able to order products, post your reviews, and potentially make some money?

So, here are the things you will do to get started:

  • Create and optimize your account on Amazon
  • Contact sellers or companies via Facebook groups
  • Contact Amazon sellers directly
  • Repeat The Process Of Contacting & Completing Tasks

1. Create & Optimize Your Amazon Profile

So, the very first thing you are going to want to do is to create an Amazon profile. I mean…of course, you will have to have an Amazon account to be able to buy products and post reviews.

Once you have created your Amazon account, the next thing you will have to do is optimize it by doing the following things:

  • Choose a ‘real’ or legitimate profile name
  • Add a ‘real’ profile picture

No company is going to pay you money to post reviews if you don’t have an established profile on Amazon simply because there are a lot of other ones that have a decent profile who are interested in posting reviews to earn money.

Make it look as natural as possible or else Amazon will figure the sketchy stuff out.

2. Contact Companies & Sellers Via Facebook Groups

Now that you have an amazing Amazon reviewer profile, you actually want to find companies or sellers that are willing to pay you for posting reviews.

One way to contact these companies and sellers is through Facebook groups.

Earlier, you could easily do that via Fiverr but a lot of accounts on that freelance platform were taken down when Amazon took action against them.

Today, you can find thousands and thousands of these sellers in Facebook groups in just a matter of a few clicks.

All you have to do is head over to Facebook, search for groups that are named ‘Get paid for Amazon reviews’ or something along the lines, and a ton of groups will popup in front of you as shown below:

contact amazon sellers

You can join these groups and then contact sellers to complete their tasks. Sometimes you will be offered free products that you can sell and make money, other times, the companies will offer compensation as well!

3. Contact Sellers Directly

Facebook groups are one way of finding these sellers. You can also try the basic method of contacting the seller directly.

You can find the sellers’ contact info on Amazon itself and then reach out to them for completing the tasks/posting reviews.

4. Repeat Contacting & Writing Reviews

Of course, you won’t make a lot of money if you only post one review in an entire month, right?

So, to be able to generate a handful amount of money, you will be repeating the process of connecting with sellers and then offering reviews over and over again.

Yes, guys! That’s the very basic method you can earn money by posting Amazon reviews. If you personally ask me, I won’t recommend that but my thoughts are only limited to me!

Now, let’s move on to the second method – you will definitely love this one!

2. Be An Amazon Associate & Write Reviews

So, this is the second method I have got for you. Here, you are going to write reviews on products but not on Amazon.

Instead, you will be writing reviews either on your own blog, an online publishing platform like Medium, or a forum like Quora.

And you know what’s the best part of this method?

Amazon WILL actually pay you to be able to do that! Yes, that’s right!

Before you throw a hundred different questions to me, here’s what I mean:

Amazon runs an affiliate program that people like you and me can join to start promoting/referring Amazon’s products to other people, and whenever someone’s going to click our unique link (affiliate link) and make a purchase, we’ll earn commissions from the company!

Okay, but how will you get paid for reviews then? Well, here’s what you are going to want to do:

  • Create An Amazon Associates Account
  • Find Top Products That’ll Earn You Good Commissions
  • Write Reviews On The Products You Have Chosen
  • Wait For The Review Articles To Rank & Earn Money

1. Create An Amazon Affiliate Account

This is the first step you will have to take for kickstarting this process. Creating an Amazon affiliate account isn’t that difficult at all.

All you will have to do is head over to affiliate-program.amazon.com, create an account, and that’s it!

Just so you don’t get confused, this is what the homepage is going to look like:

2. Find Top Products That’ll Earn You Money

The next thing you will have to do is to choose the top products that will make you enough money when you will write reviews about them.

Um, I forgot to tell you that there are different commission rates offered by Amazon on different products. You can check the current commission rates here.

So, make sure you only pick the products that have high commission rates and are in demand like luxury items, kitchen items, etc.

3. Write Detailed Reviews About The Products You’ve Chosen

Now that you have the top products on your bucket list, you will have to write reviews on those.

But how will you do that?

Well, there are three ways you can do it:

  • Start your own product review blog
  • Write review posts on online publications like Medium
  • Write helpful reviews on forums like Quora/Reddit

1. Start Your Own Amazon Product Review Blog

You can start a blog in less than a hundred dollars in this era, write reviews on a thousand different products, add your Amazon affiliate links, and make a significant amount of money like this guy is doing:

If you have no idea about starting a blog, watch this video:

2. Use Medium If Not A Blog

In case you don’t want to start a blog, you can always use free platforms like Medium to write your product reviews and whenever people will read it and buy through your affiliate links, Amazon will still pay you.

Yes, it is allowed to post Amazon affiliate links on Medium…don’t worry about that.

3. Use Forums Quora/Reddit

Other places where you can post your Amazon reviews to find potential readers and customers are Quora and Reddit.

There are thousands or maybe even tens of thousands of people looking for people’s reviews on Amazon products on these forums.

All you will have to do is write detailed reviews in the discussions and you will end up getting a lot of sales.

4. Show Patience With The Content You Have Written

If you are thinking that people will magically start reading your review articles/blog posts right after you publish them, it’s not happing, buddy!

You will have to give anywhere from three to eight months to the posts before you expect some great results.

That’s simply because content takes time to rank in this world of the internet with billions and billions of pages.

But what I can promise you is that if you stay consistent, stay focused, and stick to it, you will see consistent money coming in.

You know that there’s no direct answer to this question. It’s always going to be – ‘it depends.’

Still, if you pick really good products to review that are always in demand, write amazing reviews that are helpful and informative…you can expect to make about $1000 a month after one year.

This number can be high or low depending on the work you do and how well you understand the overall business model.
