Toluna is a platform/website/application where people can complete surveys and get paid for sharing their opinions. Other than surveys, there are some other tasks you can do as well such as completing your profile surveys, vote in sponsored polls, participate in contests, post in the community, and play Toluna games.
It is an American company founded back in 2006 that allows almost everyone to register and fill out surveys. The people who take surveys on Toluna are popularly known as ‘Toluna influencers’.
Toluna Review: Is It A Scam?
After trying the platform myself and doing some research online, I’ve come to the conclusion that Toluna is definitely not a scam and a legitimate website/application.
However, because of the problems they have with the survey qualification system, a huge number of people have found wasting their precious time and getting absolutely nothing in return.
But, when everything works out smoothly, you get what is promised. If you didn’t understand what exactly I’m talking about, keep reading the review further to figure out the essence.
The Signup Process & User Experience
First of all, you can signup for Toluna no matter what country you are in and the process is pretty straightforward just like it is with any other survey website.
After filling out the personal information, you will get 500 points for free in your account for completing the registration.
Next, you will be able to see the surveys to take after clicking ‘Surveys‘ on the top left menu.
Here, you can simply click on the start button and there will be a number of surveys you will be able to choose from.
Each survey is going to take anywhere between 15-30 minutes (or more). And for each survey that is completed, you are going to receive a few points (depending upon the survey, it can vary from 1000-5000 points or sometimes even more).
But before taking a survey, you will have to face the qualification survey that is going to take you 10-30 mins. And the problem many users face with this is that even after investing 20-30 questions to qualify for the survey, they are not able to qualify and are not eligible for taking the paid survey.
This happens multiple times with Toluna. And that’s the reason far majority of the people get annoyed with these survey websites.
However, if you do qualify for the survey and complete it truthfully, you will earn the number of points that are promised.
That’s the simple process. Other than this, you can also invite other people through your unique referral link and earn some extra points by doing so (500 points per signup).
To prevent fraud, there is a limitation placed on how many people you can invite each month. A maximum of 10 people can only be invited every month through your unique referral link.
Toluna Review: How Much Can You Make?
You can’t really each much money with these survey websites. Seeing those bonus extra points in your account when you just start out might get you excited but after investing a bit of time and energy, you will come to know what it isn’t the right thing to earn some extra money on the side online.
If a person spends 3-4 hours a day completing surveys with Toluna, you can expect to earn anywhere from $5-$8 per week (sometimes even less than that).
And honestly, you shouldn’t be shocked to see this number because the story with most of these survey websites is the same. They won’t make you thousands or even hundreds of dollars every month.
How Do You Get Paid?
Once you have 30,000 points accumulated in your account, you can redeem those points to get Amazon, iTunes, Starbucks, Tango, Target, Best Buy, and Walmart gift cards worth 10 dollars ($10).
If you want to get paid cash, you are going to want to have 95,000 points in your account just to get $30 in PayPal cash.

After using Toluna myself and everything I’ve seen with these survey websites in my online marketing journey of 3 years, I strongly believe that you should stay away from these survey websites.
They come out as pretty lucrative but it won’t get you in any good place and you will only end up wasting your valuable time. There are other ways you can start making consistent income online by investing relatively less time such as blogging and affiliate marketing…these survey websites or applications are nothing more than a waste of time and energy.
