How To Edit Permalinks In WordPress In Seconds (Updated)

You’re about to publish your very first WordPress post. Suddenly you notice the URL structure of your post. You get sad about it and your brain tells you to hit the head on the wall.

Why?

Because it looks so ugly like the one shown below.

How do you change that?

Don’t worry. It’s just a matter of seconds. It’s known as Permalink or permanent link.

As the name itself suggests, it’s a permanent link that stays in the same format for many years (if not changed again). It’s important to customize the default WordPress links because neither they’re SEO friendly and user-friendly, and nor they look good or make any sense of topic on which a page or post is created.

Here’s what you’ll need to do.

Just navigate to your WP Admin dashboard and hover your mouse to the ‘settings‘ option as shown below.

From there, navigate to ‘Permalinks‘ option under settings.

Once you do that, you’ll be ready to change the URL structure or the Permalink structure.

The next step you need to take is simply check the ‘Post name’ options from Common Settings and save your changes by clicking the button below.

That’s it!

You’re done. 🙂
