31 Jobs That Pay $15 An Hour (For This Year!)

“Everyone has to start somewhere” is the guiding light of this article. There are a lot of professionals and experienced entrepreneurs that know what they’re doing out there. If you’re not one of them, don’t worry.

Remember that financial success is the exception and not the rule. While everyone has a chance at reaching that point, it’s supposed to take a lot of time, just like all good things.

Running a business might not be for everyone, but we all need money to live. So whether you are in between, figuring things out, or looking for something extra on the side, I’ve collected a few options for you to consider.

No need to stress either, as there are more options than necessary. You only need to pick one, give it a chance, learn from your experience, and repeat.

$15/hour is a decent rate that is just above most entry-level jobs that people start off with. That should be the bare minimum if you are educated and can speak English.

Types of Jobs That Pay $15 an Hour

Most major companies in the US take it upon themselves to give at least double the minimum wage to their employees. When looking for a job for yourself, you should consider a few things.

The first thing that comes to your mind should be the location. That’s the first thing people think of when searching for a job. Obviously, you want a place that’s nearby, right?

Well, I’m not here to talk about obvious things here. In my twenty-odd years on this Earth, I’ve learned that physical labor will never be paid more than mental labor.

On top of that, a good return on investment will take a long-term consistent effort in any endeavor. With that in mind, I would suggest these types of jobs to get started:

  • Data Entry: If you are detail-oriented and love numbers, then data entry is a good part-time job. It involves filling out spreadsheets, forms and maintaining databases for companies.
  • Customer Service: Call centers might get a bad rap, but excellent customer service sets a company apart and keeps clients loyal. Helping people troubleshoot and solve their queries can be very rewarding.
  • Sales: Sales experience is invaluable in life, as it puts you at the frontlines of the machine. It might be stressful too, but the unique position can help you do market research for your future ventures.
  • Digital Marketing: Anyone who speaks English can become a content writer; anyone with a computer can use Canva. There are so many opportunities in the world of digital marketing!
  • Proofreading/ Editing: The written word extends far beyond the internet, though. All kinds of people want their writing to be proofread and edited.

I suggest This type of work to most people who can read and access the Internet. Self-awareness will play a bigger part in helping you choose the best one.

Remember, you need to have two things for a satisfying job like this: enjoyment and meaning. If you are not enjoying the work, you will never stick around long enough to get results.

Earn $15 An Hour With These Companies

I wanted to give you some context on how I am picking these jobs, along with my advice. Now that I have done that let me give you some real options to find opportunities.

Of course, a big part of actually finding a good job will depend on you and your abilities. For the most part, though, anyone should be able to find something for them on this list.

2. Fiverr

First, I want to get all the major platforms for remote work out of the way, with suggestions for which is better suited for which type of work. Fiverr is more oriented toward your visually appealing kind of remote work.

4. Indeed

Indeed might seem like just another job-searching platform, and it is. But each of these places has its traffic and community. You will find a different circle on each of these sites.

That’s why it might be best to check them all out and even better to know which is best for what kind of work. To find this out, I suggest signing up for at least three such platforms and posting a job alert for roles you are interested in.

Company Website: https://www.indeed.com/

5. LinkedIn

I don’t want to focus the whole article on ways to work as a freelancer, so I’ll end the subject of job-searching platforms with the best one of them all. LinkedIn has become a colossal company.

Millions of people have found work on this social media platform over the years, and it is easily the best option to find all kinds of work. Regardless of who you are or what you do, figure out how to add LinkedIn to your online presence.

9. Proofreading Services

Look what I found: Another dedicated platform, this time for proofreading. You know we love those specializations. It shows that a group of people have really sat down and tried to figure out how to solve a problem.

Proofreading Services is no different. One can find unique opportunities as a reader on this website. I can tell you that proofreading and editing are easier than writing and are a separate part of the process.

10. Preply

I’m well aware that our readers are from all around the world. I also know that so many people living in the US speak multiple languages. I know I talked about what you can do with your English skills, but that’s not because English is the best language.

In fact, if you are fluent in any foreign language, this platform can help you connect with people who want to learn it from you.

11. Amazon

If you keep up with the news, you might have heard of problematic working conditions in Amazon’s factories. What you might not have heard is that most people have worked for Amazon for many years without any issues.

The bigger a company is, the easier it is to target. It is also very accessible. Amazon hires tons of people seasonally and long-term in various kinds of jobs. Click the link below and see what they have in store for you.

12. Walmart

Walmart is another massive company that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, to say the least. Being a worldwide brand, they also require a lot of personnel for customer service.

This is an evergreen kind of work, meaning that Walmart will always need people. Test my theory by clicking the link below and searching your own area.

Company Website: https://careers.walmart.com/corporate/customer-service-and-call-center

13. Apple

How can we talk about one customer service without one of the biggest companies on Earth? Just think about how popular Apple products are. Then think about how different they are from other products on the market.

This should clarify just how important customer service and support are to Apple’s entire operation. The company wants the best, and the name Apple will shine on your resume.

Company Website: https://www.apple.com/careers/us/support-and-service.html

14. eBay

eBay is another robust e-commerce platform with a global audience. It’s also associated with get-rich-quick schemes galore. Consider this one, too, if you would like to work through the phone.

16. Fandom

I just realized that we’ve reached the halfway point for this list. I think that’s a good place to add a crowd-pleaser before I forget about it. Fandom is an awesome company that makes careers powered by passion.

That’s a cool way to say you can have fun while working here. In fact, their whole work is all about fun. They’ve built and managed a little company called Gamespot; maybe you’ve heard of it?

Company Website: https://about.fandom.com/careers#positions

17. AT&T

Let’s start to move into the sales category now carefully. As I said before, this kind of experience will pay you well above minimum wage and can be invaluable for your future prospects.

Sales don’t get more hardcore than telephonic networks like AT&T. Calling someone in the middle of the work day to get them to change their network service provider…. That’s as cold as calls can get.

Company Website: https://www.att.jobs/

18. Abbott

Pharmaceuticals are the next most iconic sales job in my head. I’m totally basing this on my viewing of the movie Love And Other Drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. But hey, tell me if I’m wrong in the comments.

Company Website: https://www.jobs.abbott/us/en/

19. Polaris

Oh, I’m sorry, did you want to sell something that’s actually interesting to you? Are you too cool to sell pills and big pharma drugs? Well, Polaris might be too cool for you, actually, no offense.

But seriously, if you like ATVs and stuff like that, that’s what you should really be selling. Look for opportunities near you where you can be a salesperson for a company you are a fan of.

Company Website: https://www.polaris.com/en-us/careers/job-categories/sales/

20. Tesla

News headlines about how Elon Musk treats his employees make me anxious just thinking about them. That said, I must admit that Tesla will look better than even Apple on a resume for the same reasons.

Company Website: https://www.tesla.com/careers

21. American Express

American Express is one of the major credit card companies in the world. If you want to get experience in finance, why not look for what job they might have for you? I’m sure they pay their salespeople well.

Salespeople often earn based on commissions but are also given a basic salary. Find out what they can offer you right now!

Company Website: https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/careers/

22. Target

On the one hand, Target seems like Walmart’s competition to me. On the other, it does seem more like a brand than the latter, if you know what I mean. Either way, add this one to the list as well.

Whether it’s bagging groceries or working the floor, retail can serve as an invaluable experience if you can learn from it. Plus, they obviously pay you for your time.

Company Website: https://corporate.target.com/careers

23. The Home Depot

You might be familiar with The Home Depot as the ultimate home improvement store. They sell all kinds of furniture, plumbing material, gardening tools, and much more. You can earn more than $15 an hour working as a salesman here.

It all depends on where you are and what Home Depot needs in your area, but it’s a respectable company that gives opportunities for honest work.

Company Website: https://careers.homedepot.com/

24. Best Buy

Maybe you are more interested in Home appliances rather than Home improvement. I, for one, love a good air fryer or a beautiful 4K HD TV. It’s better to be interested in what you’re doing, after all.

Well, Best Buy is always worth considering in my book. I could think of worse places to work in. Plus, you could pretend like you’re Steve Carell from The 40-year-old Virgin. (Great movie)

Company Website: https://jobs.bestbuy.com/bby

25. Razer

Razer is the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers. Gamers need to look for gamers, and I bet you that they might offer you an employee discount down the line. Hey, how can you sell it if you don’t use it?

Company Website: https://careers.razer.com/

26. Better Help

Are you a psychology student or someone with a similar education? Many people want to practice as counselors but haven’t found a good opportunity for them.

BetterHelp is obsessed with helping people in the most practical way possible.

The company has done some great work in spreading awareness about mental health. I’m sure it’ll be great for you to join the cause if you are interested.

Company Website: https://www.betterhelp.com/careers/

27. Headspace

This is technically a productivity app, although it’s all about mindfulness and meditation. I personally love the app’s free resources that helped introduce me to these crucial practices.

Being present is a life skill, and if you are passionate about that, I’m sure you’ll fit right into Headspace. Look at the different positions they offer and see what you think.

Company Website: https://www.headspacehealth.com/careers

28. National Geographic

Did you think you have to be a scientist to work at Nat Geo? Well, it certainly would help your case if you were, I won’t lie to you about that. The company is huge though, and is basically a media production house.

They have a lot of opportunities for direction and storytelling, which will pay you much more than $15 an hour if you know what you are doing. They also offer internships and such. It could be a way to get into the wild and make a career out of it.

Company Website: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/

29. Disney

Most people already loved Disney before it started buying every popular intellectual property left and right. It’s safe to say the company has done pretty okay as far as the entertainment industry goes.

Explore the many careers and job experiences you can achieve with this iconic company, and then you can do “pretty okay” as well!

Company Website: https://jobs.disneycareers.com/

30. Chick-fil-A

You may have expected to see some food-related businesses on this list. For the most part, I highly doubt your typical McDonald’s will pay you fifteen bucks an hour. Chick-fil-A would be the exception to this, though.

That’s because any higher-up in Chick-fil-A could tell you, they are in the people business. With this company, you can learn true customer service of the highest level. If you can get accepted, they will take good care of you.

Company Website: https://www.chick-fil-a.com/careers

31. Hp

Here is another computer company that is more about serious work. Hp is also well known for its exceptional HRM and excellent company culture. Search for a job by location or by area of interest right through the link below.

Company Website: https://jobs.hp.com/

In Conclusion

When it comes to being an employee, fifteen dollars an hour is double the minimum wage. Many people do multiple entry-level jobs part-time to secure a good income.

Jobs in this salary range are a couple of levels above most entry-level positions, requiring at least some training or specialized experience to do correctly.

Most of the jobs offering more than fourteen bucks an hour that I saw were asking for two years of related experience. This list is just a guide and a resource for exploring ideas and options.

I’ve talked about world-famous companies so my audiences can recognize them and figure out why I am suggesting them. Landing a job at Disney is super competitive because everyone applies there.

Same for Google, Facebook, and so on. Well, if you aren’t a particularly outstanding candidate, that’s fine because guess what? Most people are just like you, by definition.

All I want is for you to pick something meaningful for you. Self-employment is the only job anyone can get into (besides entry-level stuff) if they have the capital.

Realistically, if you want a full-time income, you must develop a skill set in a place that lets you monetize those skills. Without any capital of your own, try to build a career in something you find meaningful to engage with.

With a strong enough ‘Why’, you can overcome any ‘How.’ Fifteen bucks an hour isn’t the most lucrative salary, but you must still leverage your strengths to earn it.

Take your time to figure out what’s right for you, at your level, to achieve your own goals.
