Amazon Affiliate Marketing: The Perfect Actionable Guide

Amazon is by far the biggest E-commerce company in the world.

And when it comes to making money by selling other people’s products…amazon affiliate marketing is the first thing that pops up in my mind.

Almost everyone whom I know as successful affiliate marketers, had started their journey with amazon.

So, in this guide, I’m going to explain to you how you can start as a beginner and dominate.

We’re starting right now!

But before this, just a quick break for those of you who don’t know what affiliate marketing is can check out my definitive guide clicking the widget right below.

Without any further ado, let’s jump right in!

Why Amazon?

I’ve already said that Amazon is the beast. But there are some super important reasons for you to know about why you should be getting into this.

Trust

Amazon is a brand. So, people have trust and they feel free and convenient to buy.

Friction-less Purchase

Most of the people have their payment information already saved so they don’t need to fill it out again which reduces friction in the buying process as it’s just one click buy.

You can see the sales statistics right below from 2016 to 2019 to build a standpoint.

Amazon Affiliate Marketing: Why is it necessary for you to make money?

Helping Commission System

If a person goes through your link and buys anything within the next 24 hours regardless of what product you promote, you’ll receive the commissions.

Unlimited Products

Amazon has a vast variety of products to promote so you can select whichever you like.

Bounties

They also have bounties that can add up some extra bucks.

What Do You Need To Start With Amazon Affiliate Marketing?

Being frank enough…you need to have a couple of necessary things for starting.

First and the foremost thing is a laptop/computer with an internet connection.

Second: An Amazon Associates Account.

Third: A website or a YouTube channel or a social media profile.

If you can have these, you’re good to go.

Now, I’m going to explain each and everything step-by-step.

Starting With Amazon Associates

Starting with Amazon Affiliate Marketing.

So to get started, you just need to head over Amazon Associates and create an account by filling out the basic information which I don’t think I have to walk you through.

Once you’ve done that, go the Amazon Associates Central and scroll down a bit to the search bar where you’ll find your product to promote.

But before doing that, I want to introduce you to a new vocabulary which is famous in the industry of affiliate marketing.

And the vocab is ‘Niche‘!

What is it?

Niche is a small but profitable segment of a market suitable for focused attention by a marketing expert.

So you’ve got to decide your niche.

Also, you can’t just pick up a random one because affiliate marketing is all about working on proven stuff.

To go ahead with your research, go to Google Trends initially, and type the niches that you’re interested in to compare as shown below

How to find a niche using Google Trends.

Right now you see that the health niche is seeming really popular.

But the actual fun starts now…so don’t you get excited and close the tab.

Below the search terms, there are certain filters like time, categories, and more.

You’ll see the term ‘Web Search’ in the right over there.

Click on that and select ‘Google Shopping’ and you’ll see the whole game-changing just like shown below.

Fashion is a really popular industry to do amazon affiliate marketing.

It’s noticeable that people here in the United States are searching more for health, but fashion is getting maximum sales.

Boom!

That’s how you find a profitable niche.

By the way, I’ve got a small gift for you. Here are the top 7 niches that you can promote and earn a decent amount of money.

Top niches for you to promote Amazon Products.

Once you know what niche you want to come in, you need to do the product research to be able to earn the most money.

Okay, great!

But how do you do that?

If you don’t know, I’ve already illustrated my best way to find the most popular product to sell in one of my posts.

You can check it out here.

But in this post, I’m going to select random products on the basis of reviews.

Don’t get it wrong. That works fine too!

But let me first clear the deal with low ticket and high ticket products.

Low Ticket

So, what exactly a low ticket product?

Here’s a simple answer: everything between $1 to $100 is a low price (ticket) product.

What’s the deal with this?

Let me clarify…Let’s say you decided to promote an ebook that costs $20. According to Amazon, if you promote that, you’re going to receive a commission somewhere between 1-10%. I’m assuming that you’re getting the maximum…which is ten percent.

Ten percent of twenty dollars is two dollars. That’s what you make per sale.

So, if you love money so much, and you want to make thousands of dollars, you’ll have to make thousands of sales (literally)!

For you, as a beginner, making thousands of sales is sharply unrealistic, right? Hence, it can’t work out.

That’s the problem with low ticket products.

High Ticket Products

When it comes to high ticket products…the game is totally reverse.

Let’s say you promote a product that costs over a thousand dollars. Now, if you get a ten percent on a sale, it would be in tens or hundreds of dollars.

How many sales do you need to make thousands of dollars?

Roughly…70 or 80.

There you go.

That’s the difference. Even if you make seventy or eighty sales, you can make thousands of dollars.

Punchline is this: if you want to make big money, sell big products.

Okay…let’s assume you’ve got a fantastic high ticket product something like shown below.

Product for Amazon Affiliate Marketing that costs 2.5 grand.

What next?

You’ll have to promote it, right?

That’s where the stress enters in. But you don’t have to worry. I’ll cover everything.

Basically, to promote…you have two types of methods.

A: Free Methods

B: Paid Methods

Now, it’s better to do the math about how much commission I’ll perceive get if I promote that Macbook I’ve shown above…

According to Amazon commission rates, I’ll get only 2.5% commission for each sale which you can figure out right below in the snapshot.

Commission structure of Amazon Associates. How much commission does Amazon pay?

Amazon Recently Updated Their Commission Structure For A Few Categories: Have a look below.

How much 2.5 percent actually is?

Let’s calculate.

Calculating commissions.

Okay, I earn near around $64 per sale on that.

It’s time to kick the false excitement out. How many sales will I need to make $4000 a month?

Calculating sales.

Hmm…what do you think about that?

Does that seem difficult?

Oh, yes! That can be so (without a working strategy).

But don’t worry, I’ll only cover the working strategies that are going to get you results…Let’s first start with FREE PROMOTION OF PRODUCTS.

Amazon Affiliate Marketing For Free

How to start amazon affiliate marketing with no money.

When it comes to doing the product promotion for free, I should clarify something in the initial stage itself…Here’s how it goes:

If you have no money, you’ll have to give your time and energy.

– Shivansh Bhanwariya

Affiliate marketing is not easy when you have no money to start or when you want to make money for free.

So, how do you go about promoting your Amazon product?

Here are the ways that you can leverage:

1) Making YouTube Videos

2) Making Groups

3) Using Free Blogging Platforms

4) Engaging Via Comments

These are the four things you can do to start promoting your product.

It’s time to elaborate them one-by-one all.

How To Promote Products By Making YouTube Videos?

Amazon Affiliate Marketing With YouTube Videos.

Let me ask you a question first…

Have you ever saw a YouTube video that said: “you can buy this from Amazon through the link in the description”?

Oh, yes! You have.

Just think about it, why would somebody say that?

There are more than many chances that they’re leveraging Amazon affiliate marketing through their videos.

So, when somebody buys anything through their link in the next 24 hours, they’re going to receive a commission for that.

This is how you start with YouTube.

But the real question is…

What kind of content should you upload in order to get the maximum number of sales?

Your answer is ‘Reviews’

You find a high-ticket product like the one I’ve shown, make YouTube videos to review them, and then leave an affiliate link in the description.

Want an example? Here it is…

YouTube and affiliate links of Amazon.

You can see an affiliate link in the description. When I click that and land on Amazon, this is the page I get to see.

High ticket camera on Amazon.

So, you just buzz out your phone, make review videos on products every single day and you’ll see gradually people buying things from your affiliate links.

It’s that simple.

If you still found it hard to grasp, here’s a quick video for you.

That’s how you can create an income stream from YouTube practicing Amazon affiliate marketing.

Moving on to the next one…

Using Groups To Promote Products

Utilizing Groups To Make Money With Amazon Associates.

Well, how can you make money with groups?

I’ll show you how…

Firstly, you’ll have to create a group on whichever platform you want to (for example Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).

Facebook groups.

Secondly, post amazing stuff (content) and invite people to join the group who you seem would be interested in.

Keep on posting amazing content (non-promotional) until you reach several thousand members.

Now, when you have a decent volume, start promoting Amazon products and earn money.

It’s that easy to do.

But there’s a problem…

It’ll take time before you see any sales.

Utilizing Free Blogging Platforms

Free blogging platforms.

People love excuses. They keep on complaining that they don’t have money or time to launch their own websites. But there’s a solution to each and every problem in this world of the internet.

There are many free blogging platforms available that you can use to make money.

Here’s a list…

  1. Medium
  2. Ghost
  3. LinkedIn Publishing Platform

All you have to do is go and sign up to these sites, write informative articles (maybe some review articles) and then include your affiliate links in there.

And as these sites are highly reputable already, your articles are going to rank somewhere and gradually, you’ll start seeing sales.

Here’s an example from Medium.

Affiliate links on Medium.
The same could be done on LinkedIn.

But before in getting into the next, I’ve got a great secret for you right now…

LinkedIn is a tremendous opportunity right now. Make sure you’re using at.

Promoting Stuff Via Valuable Comments

Promotion of products via comments.

There’re a lot of misleading tips and tricks that people teach you about promoting your products with the help of comments.

Nobody gives a shit if you go there and post spammy garbage.

So what to do?

Well, I have a perfect solution for you. It can take you some time and energy but will surely work.

Alright, what is it?

The method involves commenting without affiliate links.

Huh…what?

Oh, yes! I know what I’m talking about. You’ll see that in a second.

Here’s a two-step process:

A) Write An Amazing Article About Your Product [Don’t Forget To Include Your Amazon Affiliate Links].

B) Instead Of Inserting Affiliate Link In The Comment, Put In Your Article’s Link In There.

This is the best strategy I’ve ever used to influence sales for knocking my door.

Sounds good…but what kind of comment do you put out?

Something like shown below.

An Ideal Comment.

People will like it when you do it and some of them will go through your article, and finally convert.

You can go even more above and beyond to provide value in your comment and influence more people to click your link.

That’s an ideal comment.

Then what’s not an ideal one?

The answer is below:-

Not an ideal comment.

This is how free Amazon affiliate marketing is done.

These methods can take some time to see results.

Now, let’s turn our necks to the paid methods.

Promotion With Spending Money

Paid methods to do Amazon Affiliate Marketing.

Paid methods can bring up a ton of sales but you’ll need to invest some money…which is obvious.

Um…How many types of paid methods are there?

As far as I see, there are just two:

A) Writing Content On Your Personal Website And Building An Affiliate Brand.

B) Running Advertisement To Get Results.

Building Your Affiliate Website

There’s no such thing as ‘affiliate website’ but I kinda used that to make it more specific.

But what exactly do I mean by this?

In more than simple words, you have to make your own website, write content that brings value and then add your amazon affiliate links to monetize it.

I don’t think I need to explain this.

But I do have a solid recommendation for you to start at the lowest price possible.

You can start your own website in less than $4 with the best hosting company in the world: Bluehost…and start making money with your links.

Bluehost.

Paid Advertising

While speaking about paid advertising, I’m not talking about directly promoting Amazon products through advertisement as it’s a violation of their terms and services.

I’m talking about promoting the content of your site.

I’ve talked about Search Engine Marketing [SEM] in the previous post so, here…I’ll cover social media ads.

You get the point…but what’s the perfect strategy?

Here comes my man, Odi from ODI Productions as a role player. What he does is…he creates fantastic videos that explain various topics step-by-step.

After that, he embeds all the videos on the site and makes it more like a course.

ODI Productions's method.

Below those videos, he recommends Amazon products to make commissions.

You can do that too…and then promote your website page on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and more by running ads.

Here’s an example of promoting your website’s content with ads…

Facebook ads to promote content as a part of Amazon affiliate marketing.

Again, your content needs to be super great and engaging or people will not buy the products.

And, to make amazing content, you need an amazing camera, microphones, stands, and so on…

Here’s our recommended YouTube kit you can check out to find what’s best for you.

These are the bold steps you can take to make money with Amazon Associates and master Amazon affiliate marketing.

But I could not resist myself to give you this bonus video from John Crestani to enjoy and learn both.

This is it for now and I’ll see you in the next one.

Conclusion

So far in this post, I covered the most important and basic methods to start promoting your Amazon products and earn money with.

We started with Free Methods that included YouTube, LinkedIn, Medium, and more as tools…And then we switched to Paid Methods that included creating a website and advertising.

But everything we have learned in this guide assures that you can actually make money with amazon associates and that depends on you how much you really make.

With active work and adoption of new strategies/tactics, you could even be making tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars as well. All you have to remember is that work is the variable of your success.

    • Hi Falah! Yes, that’s correct. The cookie duration is 24 hours. If they buy anything through your link in the next 24 hours, you’re likely to get the commissions on every product (or the whole cart). I hope it clarifies.
