12 Home Business Ideas For Disabled (With Great Potential)

It’s really challenging to get a real job and make money comfortably for disabled people. I have got a disabled friend who doesn’t go to the office but still makes money working from home!

That’s really impressive, isn’t it? Why would you need to go to the office when people have thought of buying lands on Mars, right?

Meeting him inspired me to write this article for anyone who is disabled and wants to work from home to earn money.

In this post, you are going to learn about the best and most passive home business ideas that disabled individuals can start and make money from sitting inside their house.

I’m not a disabled person but I have been generating revenue from the comfort of my home for years.

Hence, you will also get pro tips from the experience I have had so far working in the ‘work-from-home’ industry. Let’s get right into it.

Home Business Ideas For Disabled

  1. Blogging
  2. Affiliate Marketing
  3. Lead Generation Agency
  4. Social Media Marketing Agency
  5. Dropshipping
  6. E-Commerce
  7. Amazon FBA
  8. Freelancing
  9. YouTubing
  10. Consulting
  11. Online Coaching Services
  12. Day Trading

1. Blogging

The first and most extraordinary business you can start from the comfort of your home is blogging.

It’s something that I myself have been doing for years and generating money while sleeping, playing, spending time with my family, eating, or performing any other activity.

Blogging is really passive, straightforward, and manageable business model that can be operated by anyone if he/she spends some time learning how everything works.

There are a lot of people who are making thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even millions of dollars in this industry.

What I really love about blogging is that it’s really passive. If a disabled person would want to commence their blogging journey, they can learn and put in the work for the next one year to reap the benefits for life!

Yes, literally! It’s that passive of a business model. I have written a lot of articles years ago and they are still driving traffic (visitors) and generating income.

If you are interested in starting your very first blog successfully, here’s a free community you can join, learn, and get started the right way.

Best Things About Blogging

  • It’s very passive. Once you put in the work, the money keeps coming in.
  • Individuals can start a blog whenever they want
  • Freedom of topic/niche/industry selection
  • The investment is little to no but returns are shocking

Worst Things About Blogging

  • Patience patience patience patience!

2. Affiliate Marketing

The second business model for a disabled or handicapped person to start is affiliate marketing.

This is one of the most creative business models where you get to promote products or services of other companies and whenever you generate a sale (sell a product or service), you get paid for that.

Pretty cool, isn’t it?

To become an affiliate marketer, you have to find people who are interested in the niche you work in, use your affiliate links to sell them products, and make money.

You can bring customers via both free and paid methods. Free can include blogging, social media, email, phone, and video marketing traffic, and on the other side, paid traffic can include PPC ads, sponsored content, and influencer marketing.

I personally use affiliate marketing to generate income. The beauty of this business is that you can do it from anywhere around the world and anytime.

Also, there’s no limit on how much money you can make. The more you work to spend, the more you are going to earn.

And you know what’s even better? It’s really passive just like blogging. I’ve written a detailed guide on affiliate marketing that will explain everything and clear all your doubts. Click here to read that.

Best Things About Affiliate Marketing

  • Unlimited orpportunities to make money from home
  • Location freedom
  • Free and paid ways of doing it
  • Passive but a little bit of regular work is required

Worst Things About Affiliate Marketing

  • Not-so-good products (sometimes)

3. Lead Generation Agency

A lead generation agency is another creative, easy, and home-based business that people can start who are physically challenged.

As the name itself speaks about it, lead generation is a practice where you bring potential customers (prospects) to a company/vendor and get paid for that.

For an instance, you can find a digital marketing firm that helps restaurant owners get more customers and work out a deal with them that you will be sending restaurant owner leads to them every single week.

You can collect contact information of restaurant owners on social media, Yelp, TrustPilot, or go from one place to another to connect with the owners.

Now, every time you send leads to the company, the company will pay you money. It could be anything like 50 leads/week for $500 or anything else.

For now, I was explaining this business model to you for individuals. You will have to take this business one step further and hire a team that will work to deliver leads at scale and make you money sitting at your home.

That’s pretty exciting, right? I have got a few friends here and there who specialize in lead generation and generate over $30,000 a month in profits.

Best Things About A Lead Generation Agency

  • Very less competition
  • Easy and straightforward business
  • Involves teamwork
  • A service that business are actively seeking
  • Companies are willing to pay a lot of money for leads

Worst Things About A Lead Generation Agency

  • You will have to hire and fire people
  • Not totally passive

4. Social Media Marketing Agency

Social media marketing is a really powerful business model in this online world. Today, more and more businesses have started to get online to attract customers.

What you can do is start a social media marketing agency that helps businesses get more customers through Facebook ads, Pinterest ads, or Twitter ads, and charge a fee for doing that.

A social media marketing agency is sometimes referred to as a digital marketing agency but if you see from an expert’s perspective, they are not the same.

Social media marketing only involves social media whether that’s paid or organic but a digital marketing agency can do everything online to get new customers to the clients.

As a disabled person, you can hire a team online and start providing services to brick and mortar businesses and generate income without having to work for hours and hours from home.

If you wish to, you can start a social media marketing business on your own as well. It’s not necessary that you are required to have a team.

Best Things About An SMM Agency

  • A very easy business model
  • You actually help businesses grow and that’s how you grow as an agency
  • No setup required
  • You can start at $0.00

Worst Things About An SMM Agency

  • Hard to find clients to work with
  • Hard to find good employees

5. Dropshipping

You surely must have heard of ‘dropshipping’ a lot on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, right?

Well, no worries if you haven’t! That’s what I’m here for.

Dropshipping is a business where you can sell/market products without storing the inventory. Whenever someone makes a purchase on your store, the order goes to the actual manufacturer/supplier and then, the manufacturer/supplier delivers the product to the customer.

I know it can be a little confusing. Let me explain this to you once again with an example:

Let’s say you open a dropshipping store to sell sunglasses. You import the sunglasses from Amazon (costing $5.00 each) and list them on your store to sell them ($15.00 each + $2.69 for shipping).

Now, when you market them and generate a sale, the order will be redirected to Amazon and Amazon will deliver the product. If you take the profit out, you as a dropshipping store owner make $17.79 – $5.00 + $2.69 = $10.00!

Hence, every time you sell a product, you earn $10.00 per product (marketing costs included). You don’t have to take care of the product, inventory, shipping, or customer service in this business.

This is what I call a perfect business for people who want to start a business from home and a challenged physically.

Best Things About Dropshipping

  • Easy business model to start
  • No inventory required
  • Very high profit margins
  • Scalable business to start from home

Worst Things About Dropshipping

  • Sometimes products are in shortage
  • Long shipping times (sometimes)

6. E-Commerce

Another business that disabled persons can start from home is E-Commerce. E-Commerce isn’t something brand new to the business world.

Big companies like Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Target have always been big examples of E-Commerce businesses at scale.

The largest brand on the planet is actually an E-Commerce brand (Amazon). You can start an E-Commerce store about anything and generate great sums of money.

The mistake most people make while starting an E-Commerce store is that they start competing with friends like Amazon. This is not ideal when you’re just starting out as a beginner.

To be able to start an e-commerce business effectively, you will have to start laser-focused. What do you mean by this is that you are going to target a specific niche/category.

For example, you can open an E-Commerce store that only sells shoes, ties, belts, suits, toys, chocolates, or anything else. This will help you build a brand and people will start trusting you.

Once you have enough volume coming in, you can expand and start selling other products or items as well.

Best Things About E-Commerce

  • A lot of exciting products to get into
  • A perfect business model for anyone who wants to stay engaged
  • Unlimited opportunities in terms of income
  • A lot of skills to learn and teach

Worst Things About E-Commerce

  • A whole lot to manage

7. Amazon FBA

Amazon FBA is a really popular and powerful business that a lot of people are talking about on search engines, social media networks, and adverts.

What Amazon FBA essentially means is that you purchase products and ship them to Amazon’s warehouses, and then Amazon is going to do all the other stuff like delivering, returns, customer service, and a little bit of marketing for you.

That is why it is called Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA). Amazon takes care of everything for you for a small recurring monthly fee.

If you are engrossed in learning more about Amazon FBA, check out this video on YouTube that explains it all:

Best Things About Amazon FBA

  • A stress-free business model
  • Loads of income potential
  • High conversion rates
  • Apt for disabled people

Worst Things About Amazon FBA

  • It takes a little bit of time to rank products

8. Freelancing

Another home-based business that can be started while enjoying work freedom and flexibility is freelancing.

Freelancing is a fantastic business to start if you love to provide services like:

  • Writing
  • Designing
  • Marketing
  • Bookkeeping
  • App development
  • Translation
  • Sales
  • Accounting
  • Data entry
  • Transcribing
  • etc.

You can either start connecting with clients/businesses independently or join freelancing platforms like Upwork, Freelancer.com and Fiverr to make the process easier.

By the way, if you are interested in learning more about the top freelancing websites, check out this post.

I myself have started my career as a freelance writer. Even blogging falls under freelancing as well. You can do almost anything as a freelancer from anywhere around the world.

Best Things About Freelancing

  • So much flexibility
  • Easy to find clients
  • So many platforms to help individuals make more money
  • Lots of income potential

Worst Things About Freelancing

  • Deadlines to meet
  • Platforms/freelancing sites charge high commissions

9. YouTubing

Being YouTuber is one of the coolest businesses a person can start. What’s really great about starting a content creation business on YouTube is that not only do you get to connect with people but you also get paid for that.

A YouTube channel could be about anything. From gaming, marketing, vlogging, and music to business and education!

A lot of YouTubers are making millions of dollars every year from their rooms and you can too. There’s nothing special to teach you about YouTubing.

Just be sure that you pick a low-competitive niche, stay focused, stay consistent, focus on the promotion, and the growth will follow along.

Best Things About YouTubing

  • Very flexible work schedule
  • Very passive if there’s not a lot of competition
  • Unlimited income potential
  • Lots of monetization methods

Worst Things About YouTubing

  • You still have to wait for the paychecks to arrive

10. Consulting

The tenth business that a disabled individual can start from home is a consulting business.

Now, a consulting business doesn’t necessarily have to be in the financial, marketing, or technical sector…it can also be in the educational, mental, or fitness sector.

There are a lot of people and business individuals who are looking for quality advice and guidance. All you have to do is show them the clarity they are looking for and get paid.

You can advertise your consulting services via Facebook ads, SEO, and social media marketing. Word of mouth can be utilized too.

Best Things About Consulting

  • Can be started from anywhere around the world (home as well)
  • The more clients you get, the more money you make
  • Can be turned into a membership business model as well

Worst Things About Consulting

  • It’s quite challenging to get prospects onboard

11. Online Coaching Services

The online coaching and education industry is booming for the past few years and it’s going to get even bigger with time.

You will notice so many people are creating coaching programs/online courses and selling them for thousands of dollars.

If I tell you the numbers, this industry is going to be valued at over $305 billion by the year 2025.

You don’t necessarily have to be an expert to put together a coaching course or program. Whatever it is that you know about, you can create a valuable course, sell it, and keep 100% of the profit!

Best Things About Online Coaching Services

  • Very profitable business model
  • Once you create the course, sales start coming in (marketing is required lol)

Worst Things About Online Coaching Services

  • A lot of questions to answer (of customers)

12. Day Trading

The last home-based business idea we have got that could be started by a disabled personality is day trading.

Day trading is a stock thing where you buy and sell stocks within a day to generate income.

When you are doing day trading, you have to buy and sell stocks before the trading period of the day gets over. Before you begin day trading, you have to learn a lot, or else a whole lot of money can go wasted.

Best Things About Day Trading

  • High earning opportunities
  • So much to learn
  • Keeps an individual busy all across the day

Worst Things About Day Trading

  • High risks

In Conclusion

It used to be challenging for a disabled person to start a business from home and work it out smoothly but that’s not the case now.

The online world makes everything extremely easy that even non-handicapped people can work on home-based business ideas/plans and make money.

This was my small article dedicated to physically challenged people who want to start a business with flying colors and be independent. I hope you found this helpful. Questions are welcome in the comments section below.
