It can be overwhelming and confusing for business people to choose from these countless options. Sales funnel builders are an awesome solution to this problem.
They streamline the entire process for regular people. Just buy a subscription, choose a template, and fill it in with your own copy and media. You can get started quickly and easily with way less hassle.
Today, we are comparing two of the more popular platforms that provide this service: ClickFunnels, the original funnel builder that made the concept popular, and DropFunnels, its major competitor.
I’ve studied them both, heard from the online community, and taken a close look at the actual software for this article. Here is my honest opinion on both:

In A Nutshell: Which One Is Better?
When ClickFunnels started in 2014, most people had never heard of the term sales funnel. The concept has only gotten more popular with time, and ClickFunnels has become synonymous with the original funnel builder.
This can largely be credited to the amazing marketing team behind its promotion and the success of its affiliate marketing campaigns. They also had the first mover’s advantage.
Comparing the Google Trends data shows clearly which one of the two is more popular. Since it started, ClickFunnels has revamped its software and launched its 2.0 platform.
However, newer companies always have an advantage in the tech world as they can improve upon the competition. Coming to the point, which one is better?
Both platforms offer similar services with a very small difference in price. But after taking a close look at the software, infrastructure, and feedback, I’ve found a clear answer.
DropFunnels is easily the superior sales funnel builder overall. It’s reportedly faster, ever so slightly more affordable, and gives a better overall experience.
But you should know about a few things before signing on.
ClickFunels has a bigger community, is slightly more accessible, and is easier to use. It has also promised to add its own CRM, Ecommerce Store, and Shopping Cart.
Although it also has a few drawbacks.
Read on to learn more about what these companies can do for you and whether you should try them out or not. I also talk about some of your other options in my personal advice to you at the end.
DropFunnels Vs. ClickFunnels 2.0: Core Features & Accessibility
It only makes sense to start the comparison with the core features of these platforms. Both of them say that they offer sales funnels or webpages that create conversions that come with drag-and-drop editing.
Sales funnels are meant to direct and guide a customer’s journey when they visit your landing page. It’s like an interactive, live advertisement.
A good funnel starts off with a clear description of what the company is all about, makes the customer aware of a problem they might have, and offers them a solution through your products and services.
It also may use various other marketing techniques to win over the trust of the visitor and encourage them to follow through with a purchase.
Here’s what I found after taking a closer look at the products:
1. Funnel Builder
Both the platforms seem to have a similar quality of funnels at first. Since there are only so many ways you can make a conversion. Upon closer examination, I found something else.
First, let’s talk about the price. The basic DropFunels plan gives you unlimited access to all their funnels, while ClickFunnels 2.0 only offers 20 funnels.
What’s more, someone rightly pointed out that a lot of the ClickFunnels templates use marketing strategies like creating urgency and showing a high demand in order to increase sales.
These strategies can damage the website’s reputation in the long term and end up making a lot of ClickFunnels templates look a bit similar.
In terms of customization, both platforms allow users to customize their templates to a fairly detailed degree. However, I found that ClickFunels was a bit less intuitive and had some bugs in the Funnel builder.
Pages would sometimes load a bit slowly, and some people have even reported losing progress due to glitches.
I also didn’t like how they don’t have an elements tab, you have to add elements by hovering over the ones in the templates.
2. Blog & Pages
DropFunnels is actually made using the framework of WordPress. In fact, from a web developer’s point of view, DropFunnels is like a bundle of many different WordPress plugins combined into a separate platform.
In fact, the platform’s pages and funnels are made on the Beaver Builder, which is one of the best page builders for WordPress. More than half of the internet is powered by WordPress, so you can’t really go wrong with it.
That makes DropFunels great for blogging in general. ClickFunels lacks a lot of features like RSS functions, tags, and categories. It is also worse for building a blog in general, as it gives bloggers far less flexibility.
3. Course Creator
A majority of people use both these platforms to sell their own courses and digital products. That’s why the course creators can be considered another core feature.
There were a few different templates on both, but the trend seems to be maintained in this category as well. DropFunnels was the winner for creating courses as well, in my opinion.
The platform has an in-built quiz feature to gamify courses and increase student engagement, which is really cool on its own. On top of that, it also lets you upload up to 10 GB of video in the basic plan & 30 GB in the premium one.
ClickFunnels only allows you to add videos that are hosted on a streaming website like YouTube & Vimeo. Its course creator was also less accessible, with a worse user experience.
DropFunnels’s course creator seemed a lot more intuitive and comprehensible by comparison. Looks like things are looking hard for ClickFunnels already. And we are only halfway through our review!
DropFunnels Vs. ClickFunnels 2.0: Speed & SEO
Most people can get a lot of mileage from their websites through SEO blog posts that rank and bring in free traffic from Google. Link building might require some work for this, but it’s a great thing nonetheless.
That’s why I listed Blogs as a core feature. The people who come to you from Google would be looking to make purchases anyway, which makes this extra useful. Of course, speed is also very important.
Nobody wants to wait more than two seconds for a page to load, and that’s being generous enough!
Unfortunately, ClickFunnels 2.0 websites are reportedly slower than its competitors, and they are not good for SEO either. The platform typically relies on paid traffic to make its conversions.
On the other hand, people have run tests where they built identical pages as DropFunnels on WordPress and compared them to websites built completely on the platform.
They found that, on average, DropFunnels websites were still faster and better optimized than the ones built by the testers on WordPress. That’s because each plug-in comes with its own set of dos and don’ts.
Making things yourself can be complicated due to all the moving parts, whereas DropFunnels makes things easier and more effective. DropFunnels has not sponsored us, this is what I found in my research.
DropFunnels Vs. ClickFunnels 2.0: Sales & Marketing
I mentioned a few things above as core features, but many website builders out there can give you templates and funnels. Experienced business people will recognize that there are also many other things you need from these platforms.
Ultimately, your website is a form of digital marketing for you, and the end goal is to get more leads and increase your sales. Let’s consider a few of these points and see which one is better.
1. Tracking & Analytics
You can create an awesome funnel and optimize all your pages. You can take feedback from the people you know, but ultimately, you need a good way to measure the performance of your pages.
Both of these platforms provide a similar level of tracking and analytics data. They both give you all the brass tacks like views, visits, leads, revenue, and conversions generated through each source.
I found them both to be functionally identical. I personally suggest you sign up for more advanced tracking software through third-party companies.
That way, you can get even more actionable data down to the number of scrolls and the amount of time each user has spent on your pages. It can be especially useful for your sales pages.
While both of these platforms have the infrastructure to sell digital products and courses and take payments, can you sell physical products with them? Yes, you can, but there are some things to consider.
DropFunnels outright says that they are not a primarily Ecommerce platform, whereas ClickFunnels says that their Ecommerce store is in the works.
Both platforms have awesome sales funnels and templates for various kinds of physical products as well. DropFunnels allows you to plug in and incorporate popular Ecommerce platforms like Shopify quite easily.
Being built on WordPress, you can also link various other stores. Just add your store right to your DropFunnels website.
Whereas ClickFunnels requires a third-party integration like Zapier to build a full-on Ecommerce infrastructure. You need those to do things like showing live product feeds and taking delivery information.
Both platforms also offer all major payment integrations that are commonly available online, but more specifically:
- DropFunnels offers native integrations for Stripe, PayPal, NMI, Authorize.net, and even CoinPayments, although the crypto option is still in Beta.
- ClickFunnels also offers PayPal and NMI, but to take Stripe payments, you need to set it up through Payments.ai, which requires additional fees.
4. Automation & CRM
It looks like things are pretty evenly matched in this department, as they both seem to offer a similar quality of automation and allow for all major third-party integrations.
Although ClickFunnels has also announced its own Client Relationship Management software, which is also yet to be launched.
Both sites also offer users the option to run Split Tests, which is a cool feature they can use to test the performance of different marketing strategies by redirecting traffic to multiple pages and comparing conversions.
5. Email Marketing
ClickFunnels has its own email marketing platform, whereas DropFunnels allows you to integrate third-party apps to do so.
These software are pretty straightforward, so it shouldn’t make much of a difference anyway.
Still, you can also integrate your email marketing services to ClickFunnels if you’d rather not use their built-in service. Using it should make things simpler for you, though.
DropFunnels Vs. ClickFunnels 2.0: Training & Support
Clearly, these platforms have a lot to them. While it may be more accessible to launch your website with them, it still requires you to learn a thing or two.
This is why training and onboarding is an important part of the process. DropFunnels seems to be the winner here, as well. That’s because an onboarding call with a certified expert is included in its plans.
As a premium user, you can even have a one-on-one session with the CEO of DropFunnels if you want some truly high-level consultation about your website.
ClickFunnels offers free community access but little information about its onboarding procedure. This leads me to believe that it is mostly a self-taught situation.
About that certified expert I mentioned, both these companies actually offer a 12-week training program that comes with a certificate upon completion. After that, you can also become a certified sales funnel expert if you wish to.
Safe to say, ClickFunnels has a massive online community, and I’m sure there are tons of certified experts out there whom you can connect with and get guidance from. It just doesn’t seem to be a part of the company’s services itself.
Other than that, they both have expensive online resources and on-call support during working hours.
DropFunnels Vs. ClickFunnels 2.0: Price Comparison
All that’s left is to look at the prices. Like I said in the beginning, both companies offer similar services with a small difference in price. Both of them also offer a free 14-day trial.
But as you can see below, DropFunnels is the more affordable option.
1. DropFunnels Pricing
Dropfunnels has just two plans but seems to offer more things than the competition:
- DropFunnels Starter: $99 per month, $149 with the free trial.
- DropFunnels Ultimate: $299 per month
2. ClickFunnels 2.0 Pricing
Whereas ClickFunnels offers three payment plans and might be charging a premium for their brand name:
- Basic: $147 per month or $1524 per year ($127/mo)
- Pro: $197 per month or $1884 per year ($157/mo)
- Funnel Hacker: $497 per month or $2496 ($208/mo)
You can glimpse at the different features being offered in each plan in this screenshot, although I have mentioned most of them already.
It’s interesting to note that ClickFunnels used to cost way more.
They originally had a less expensive basic plan at around a hundred bucks a month and a more expensive premium plan that cost around two and a half thousand bucks every month!
Now, that premium plan used to include a ton of extra stuff and community access (that’s now free), but it’s interesting how the prices changed over the years because of competition.

The final rating for DropFunnels and ClickFunnels is 4.8 and 4.3 out of 5, respectively. A considerable difference, but not a massive one. Some of the user interface issues I found can also be a matter of preference.
But ultimately, you cannot ignore the fact that most DropFunnels sites are sometimes three to ten times faster than ClickFunnels variants. That is absolutely massive. Then, there are the blogging and SEO functionalities.
Even if ClickFunnels is able to deliver on its promised features in the near future, isn’t it better to go for specialized software?
Their native services might save you time and money, but they might also make your website heavier.
Whereas the integrations offered by DropFunnels allow you to add a free specialized email marketing solution like Mail Chimp with just a few clicks. To be fair, you can probably integrate these on ClickFunnels as well.
All in all, I hope you will agree as to which one is better overall. ClickFunnels might have a massive reputation and community, but it seems to me that they are falling behind.
Meanwhile, DropFunnels feels more like a close-knit and personalized service that’s more polished and well-optimized with a better price tag.
All the articles and reviews I found seem to be a bit outdated, as they mentioned some old information.
This article, including the user experience issues for ClickFunnels 2.0, is based on the current versions of both software.
The picture might change once again in the future as both companies continue to evolve.
So at the end of the day, which one should you buy? Who are these platforms for in the first place? If you ask me, it doesn’t make much sense to choose ClickFunnels as it is right now.
You will find a ton of people disagreeing with me and saying otherwise, but remember that both these programs have very lucrative affiliate programs that offer 30-40% recurring commissions.
That’s why it’s hard to trust online reviewers in this regard. Having said that, these are ultimately platforms for business people with sizeable budgets who are short on time.
If you can afford to invest more money than time into your online presence and have a dream website that you want to see come to life, then by all means, sign up for DropFunnels.
You can even choose ClickFunnels out of spite or personal preference if that will make you happy. Just know that it’s not suitable for making an authority blog website.
I would only say that these two are not your only options. You can do everything yourself through WordPress if you’re willing to invest time, watch a ton of YouTube tutorials, and really get your hands dirty.
I also suggest you explore other software, like System IO, which is essentially free, or GoHighLevel, which is a rather underrated funnel builder with awesome features.
